The Boston Bruins had great success against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Leafs haven’t beaten the Bruins in a playoff series since 1959, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t. meaning Boston is complacent going into Game 1 of the first-round series on Saturday night.
“There is more urgency in what we are doing,” said Washington Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery spoke with reporters after practice at Warrior Ice Arena on Friday. “You can see it in training, the pace over the two days is amazing. Second and third attempts are natural. So it’s just the urgency, trying to do what you want to do, to be ready when the puck drops (Saturday night), that’s the most fun part.
Montgomery added: “The reason you want to be in the NHL is to play these games. High level of excitement. In fact, the Bruins worked on an area where they struggled throughout the series: the power play. Montgomery shook up both units by trading Charlie McAvoy and Brad Marchand for Kevin Shattenkirk and Danton Heinen and was impressed with the puck movement.

Even though Boston lost three of its final five games of the regular season, Montgomery still feels comfortable with the direction the Bruins are headed in the playoffs.
