Yesterday, we covered three Sabers players who could bolster any fantasy hockey team, especially if they make it to the later rounds.
Today I wanted to continue that trend, but let’s talk about some of the sleepers that will be available in the last round or two of your fantasy draft.
If you’re playing in a bigger league, you’ll likely see one of the three listed below, so stay tuned for the second half.
Let’s start with a player who, had it not been for a serious injury last year, might have been taken in fantasy hockey drafts earlier this year.
Jack Quinn
Few players have had more luck than Jack Quinn in 2023-24, when a pair of lower-body injuries limited him to 27 games.
What the Blue and Gold haven’t found is good consistency when it comes to power, and you shouldn’t be surprised by Quinn’s output – 19 points and nine goals in 27 games.
However, Kevin often found his rhythm when he had opportunities, and it becomes clear when you adjust the total shown above to 82 games – 57-58 points and 27 goals.
Kevin was ready to make a jump last season, so in the third year of his NHL career, that jump could be put together.
Dylan Cousins
None of the Sabers were without a back in 2023-24, but Dylan Cousins Cousens looked more like the 2021-22 version than we saw in 2022-23, limiting him to just 47 points and 18 goals.
But Cousens, known for his hard work, isn’t one to look back on what he didn’t accomplish last season.
Looking for another outlet for him to take the ice this season, fantasy hockey owners are sure to understand what Cousins brings and it’s worth taking a chance on him.
Good day
Bowen Byram has been in good form this season and will play behind Sabers powerhouse Rasmus Dahlin.
That said, he will have a chance to score in many situations, but like Jack Quinn, the question is whether he can stay healthy.
If the answer is yes, we’ll likely see Byram produce between 0.5 and 0.6 points per game.
Not quite what he accomplished last season, but nine points and three goals in 18 games has Byram off to a great start to his Saber career, and if he can make the jump in this year, he will go faster.
Few would consider him in their fantasy writings, and even the most experienced leaders would struggle to remove him.
