Chelsea finished their 2023/24 season with a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth to ensure the position of sixth in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino made two changes to his side that beat Brighton and it was a really front-foot start from the Blues. And they made their bright start told on 17 minutes with a goal of the season contender on the final day of the campaign.

Moises Caicedo found the back of the net from the halfway line for Chelsea, in what was his first goal for the club. That’s the way it stayed as the teams headed into the half-time break, but the second period kicked off with a bang from the Blues.

Raheem Sterling somehow found a gap between Neto’s legs to double the hosts’ lead but Bournemouth offered an immediate response. Enes Unal’s strike deflected off Benoit Badiashile and ended up beating Djordje Petrovic to halve the deficit.

However, it stayed 2-1 to Chelsea. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the players…

Djordje Petrovic – 6

The Serbian goalkeeper had a bit to do but not much that troubled him, really, apart from the goal. Petrovic couldn’t really do anything about Bournemouth’s off-target attack

Trevoh Chalobah – 6.5

Chalobah, playing at right-back, once again played a solid role for home team. Considering it’s not his “natural” position, the defender defended very well.

Thiago Silva – 7

Emotional farewell, Silva, it was great. His last dance and he’s usually solid. Goodbye Thiago.

Benoit Badiashile – 5

Overall, it was a really positive end to the season for the Frenchman, who struggled earlier in the season. However, today he is not there. Some questionable moments from the Frenchman, believed to be an own goal in the second half.

Marc Cucurella – 6

The Spaniard was unable to continue his exceptional form my recent distinction. But he once again became a truly lively person. Also makes a lot of interceptions when moving towards midfield, which can be a bit difficult to notice.

Moises Caicedo – 8.5

Caicedo opened the scoring for Chelsea according to the best possible way. Last day of the season, half way mark, bright sunshine, what more could you ask for? Once again, the Ecuadorian put in an incredible performance.

Conor Gallagher – 6

The England international was not as involved as he would have liked. Energetic as always but didn’t make too much of an impact on the ball.

Noni Madueke – 6

Madueke was calmer than usual. He has been excellent in recent matches at Stamford Bridge, but could not maintain that momentum today. His performance wasn’t necessarily bad, but he was a bit quiet.

Cole Palmer – 6

Chelsea’s player of the season and the cover of today’s show nay, he was not at his best today. But he always creates things. A standing ovation as he came on just before 90 minutes.

Raheem Sterling – 6

Sterling looked excellent in his first start since March. He accomplished his goal very well, even if his shot wasn’t the cleanest. It’s great to see him back in the team and doing what he does best.

Nicolas Jackson – 6

The Senegal striker didn’t get too many chances – which in itself is rare .

Substitutes

Christopher Nkunku – 6

Nkunku was unable to make the same impact this week.

Malo Gusto – 6

Gusto performed good during participation. I had to knock on the door to explain why he didn’t start.

Lesley Ugochukwu – 6

It was nice to see him out there again. He’ll have a few more minutes today.

Cesare Casadei – N/A

A few minutes.
