Thiago Silva has decided to join former club Fluminense after His contract with Chelsea expires this summer, according to reports.
The veteran defender confirmed earlier last week that he will leave the Blues at the end of the 2023/24 season, ending a four-year spell in back at Stamford Bridge.
Silva has been linked with various clubs across Europe as well as in Saudi Arabia, but some reports – first cited by Brazilian media outlet Globo – confirmed he has agreed to return to Fluminense this summer.
Fluminense will not announce the deal until the end of Chelsea’s season as a sign of respect, while Silva must faces a race against time to don the blue shirt again after suffering an injury in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
Chelsea closes the 2023/24 season with matches against West Ham United this Sunday, Nottingham Forest on May 11 and Bournemouth on May 19.
Silva will officially sign a contract. with Fluminense on a trip to Rio de Janeiro in the coming weeks.
He previously played for Tricolor from 2006 to 2009, his impressive performance helped him move to AC Milan.
