Marc Cucurella opened up about the Chelsea players’ stance over Mauricio Pochettino’s future amid speculation of his possible sacking.
Cucurella on Pochettino’s future at Stamford Bridge
Failed to win in their last two league games
Pochettino unsure about his future
The Blues defender revealed that Pochettino has the dressing room’s support as the Chelsea players want the Argentine to continue at Stamford Bridge beyond the current season. He refused to blame the manager for the club’s debacle against Arsenal as the player claimed that the 5-0 defeat was due to the player’s poor attitude on the pitch.
In the aftermath of their heavy defeat at the Emirates Stadium, the former Tottenham boss admitted that he is unsure of the club owners’ and officials’ assessment of him. After losing against their city rivals, the Blues failed to register a win last weekend when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa.
WHAT MARC CUCURELLA SAID
Speaking to The Standard, the Spaniard said, “Yes, for sure. He spoke very well at half-time, and all the people saw the team’s reaction. A lot of the games we don’t win – and that is part of the game – but I think it is more the whole problem because we have the quality and maybe we don’t show what we can do.
“When we lose 5-0, I don’t think the manager can do anything. I think it has more to do with us (the players), our attitude. He helped us a lot, he has good communication skills and the whole team always supports him. We are on a good path.”
He added: “We all have to improve every week, stay in form and have the same attitude every minute because we have to win win. If we stay together, we can do good things. »
