The Eagles have secured Jalen Hurts’ protector on the left side of the line for the foreseeable future.

Philadelphia recently reached an agreement with left tackle Jordan Mailata on a three-year, $66 million extension, extending his contract through 2028.

During his press conference on Friday, Mailata expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to remain with the team long-term, emphasizing his desire to be a one-team player and contribute to the club’s culture and legacy.

Mailata’s journey from Australia to Philadelphia is remarkable, transitioning from rugby to professional football through the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. Despite early back injuries, the Eagles recognized his potential and drafted him in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Acknowledging his growth and development, Mailata credited his run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, for his instrumental role in his career progression.

Now 27 years old, Mailata is poised to take on a leadership role with the Eagles, particularly with Jason Kelce retiring this offseason. He looks forward to contributing to the team’s success and building a promising future in the upcoming 2024 season.
